Richard Hicks doesn’t remember being hit on his bike by a Tallahassee police officer.

“I really wish I could,” the 64-year-old cyclist said. “I don’t remember any part of that day at all, nothing.”

He added that Hicks has not been allowed to drive a car for two years because of his poor eyesight, so he rides a bike everywhere. But his main means of transportation almost cost him his life in August 2023.

A collision with a Tallahassee Police patrol SUV left him with a broken femur and jaw and multiple fractures of his ribs and vertebrae.
