Star wrestlers were involved in a horrific car accident that caused injuries that ended their careers

The Gladiators Bionic was involved in a car accident that left him with a career-ending injury.

The bodybuilder, whose real name is Matty Campbell, was one of 16 stars signed up for the reboot of the programme, which is now showing on BBC One. But before he got his big break on the hit game show, Matty’s interest was focused on football.




He excelled in sports during school and reached the academic level due to his amazing talent. However, Matty’s dreams were shattered when he got into a car accident.

The injuries he sustained in the accident shattered his dreams of becoming a professional footballer. He began spending more time in the gym due to physical therapy and soon found a new passion in bodybuilding.

“I’ve had a lot of injuries in the past, torn biceps and other things, and I always come back very quickly and surprise doctors left, right and centre,” he told The Sun. “All of that, plus my 6ft 6in height, has made me call myself Bionic. I’m never afraid to get hurt – we’re there to entertain and that’s part and parcel of being wrestlers.

Speaking about the incident, Matty added: “The injuries I sustained (from the car accident) led me to the gym for rehab and stuff and from there I got into bodybuilding and became addicted very quickly. The rest is history and I’ve never looked back.”
