Servio and Telefonica are implementing a pilot project to examine traffic accidents using drones

Sereo and Telefónica Tech implemented an innovative pilot project A project for the Community of Madrid that allows traffic accidents and the condition of its roads to be examined using drones.

This is a pioneering project that demonstrates the potential of drone technology to promote safer, more efficient and sustainable mobility. The two companies, in collaboration with Navalair, carried out a 4.6 km out-of-sight drone flight from the Northern Regional Road Maintenance Center in La Cabrera (Madrid) to a simulated accident at the point of kilometer 1 + 300 of the M-631, with the aim of improving accident screening. And speed up Servio service response in critical situations.

Drone technology will allow rapid assessment of the location of any accident occurring on roads, speeding up the response of rescue and emergency services and improving the care of people involved in the accident. In addition, drones provide a complete aerial view of the accident scene, which can be particularly useful for further investigation of a complex accident case.

The pilot project also simultaneously inspected 13 kilometers of the M-608 road using LiDAR technology using a drone conducted from a moving vehicle, with the aim of obtaining a cloud of points for subsequent processing and analysis by Servio and the General Directorate of Roads, Ministry of Housing, Transport and Community Infrastructure. Madrid, which will allow planning the necessary actions to improve road safety in infrastructure.
