Michael Schumacher fans are set to get a rare glimpse into the Formula 1 legend’s life in a new documentary next month, 10 years after his horrific skiing accident.

  • Formula 1 icon Michael Schumacher suffered a horrific skiing accident in 2013
  • The seven-time world champion has not been seen in public for nearly ten years
  • A new five-part documentary about the German legend is scheduled to be broadcast later this year

A new documentary is set to provide an insight into Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher, ten years after his devastating skiing accident.

Schumacher – who won seven world championships – suffered a tragic accident in December 2013, which led to him entering a medical coma. He has not appeared in public since.

The German is being cared for by a team of medical staff and his wife, Corinna, at their home in Lake Geneva, but not much has been announced about his condition.

But now fans will finally be given a glimpse of the Formula 1 star in a new five-part documentary produced by German broadcaster ARD and due to be broadcast on December 28 – which marks 10 years since the horrific skiing accident.

Although final details are unclear, it is expected to look into his rise to prominence in the sport, while it could also provide more information about what happened with the incident and how he is progressing now.

A new documentary about Michael Schumacher (who was filmed in 2005 with his wife Corinna) is set to be broadcast.
Schumacher (pictured in 2005) has not been seen in public since his 2013 skiing accident, which left him in a medically induced coma, and he is being cared for by a team of medical staff and his family.

Schumacher is one of the most successful Formula 1 drivers of all time, having won the world title in 1994, 1995, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004.

He also added 71 fast laps and 155 podiums to his name during his distinguished racing career.

Schumacher’s family remains very protective of his privacy, and it is understandable that many of their close friends and relatives are unsure of his health.

However, in the Netflix documentary “Schumacher,” which aired in 2021, his wife Corinna provided a rare update.

She revealed that he is still undergoing rehabilitation due to the injuries that changed his life, and claimed that he is now “different, but here.”

The new documentary follows the previous Netflix film, and Schumacher’s brother Ralf recently told German magazine Bunte that he is no longer close to the Formula 1 legend’s immediate family, but insisted he still loves them.

“When I see his children, Gina Maria and Mick, my heart smiles,” he said. “If a family member is looking for my advice, I’m there. They go their own way.

“But, unfortunately, sometimes life isn’t fair (with an accident).” We have to accept that.

News of the impending documentary also comes after former Formula 1 driver Timo Glock insisted Schumacher’s health condition should be kept private.

Glock – a compatriot who was a close friend of Schumacher – claimed it was right for his family to keep his health to themselves, despite the public clamor for updates on one of the greatest drivers of all time.

“I keep in touch with Mick Schumacher (Michael’s son) as he and I get along well,” he told LuckyBlock.

“I have also known other members of his family for a very long time, but I try not to impose on their privacy.

“I respect their right to privacy, and I do not discuss Michael’s condition with them.”
