Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton at Red Bull are banned

During an appearance on Track Limits, former Sauber, Ferrari and Williams driver Massa was asked to name the team he would choose if he were to become a Formula 1 team principal, and the two drivers he would put in the running.

It was no surprise that he chose Red Bull, the dominant team of the ground effect era, while Verstappen in one of the cars was also an easy choice.

As for his teammate, Massa knows Hamilton is the solution the fans want, but made clear that former title contenders as teammates would “destroy” Red Bull.

“This is really difficult, because in the end, you need two drivers who work well with the team,” Massa began when faced with the double decision.

“And of course, if you put Max and Louis (together), everyone will say, ‘Oh, I want to have Max and Louis!’

“It won’t work out because in the end they’ll fight, they’ll destroy the relationship, they’ll destroy the team, and it won’t work out.”

“So, who will be the drivers? Maybe Max and Lando Norris,” Massa said.

“I don’t know what the relationship will be like, because one needs to win. But they are both drivers that I really enjoy and really love.”

Norris has a contract with McLaren until the end of Formula 1 in 2025, and the team and driver are setting their sights on challenging Verstappen and Red Bull for the title in the coming seasons.
