Fecon acquires TREEfrogg LLC – Lawn & Landscape

It is a LLCa global manufacturer of heavy-duty site preparation attachments and forestry accessories, was recently acquired Treefrog LLC, a manufacturer of tree pruning saw attachments for skid steer loaders and compact crawler loaders. The acquisition expands Fecon’s right-of-way clearance solutions in the mulch and vegetation management industry. TREEfrogg’s patented tree pruning saws are designed for small and medium-sized hauling companies, allowing landscapers, landowners and DOT to perform tree maintenance using machines they already have on hand quickly, safely and economically. Fecon will rename the chainsaw attachments as Trim Ex.

“We are excited to add TREEfrogg pruning saws to the Fecon line,” says Jeff Stanley, senior vice president of product development at Fecon. “This addition expands the offering to our agricultural, rural and DOT customers, giving them a productivity-enhancing solution for selective tree trimming.”

Innovative attachments provide the perfect solution for treating overhanging tree limbs and other vegetation along easements, right-of-ways, roads, fence rows, paths and other applications. Cutting faster than a band saw, the Trim Ex 26S saw attachment features a 24-inch carbide-tipped forestry blade that spins at 3,000 RPM and works with standard flow machines between 10 gpm to 27 gpm without requiring high flow. The operator hydraulically rotates the saw head from the cab up to 180 degrees to improve cut angle and increase productivity. Boom telescopes reach a length of 18 feet, providing a working height of 26 feet. The high-speed saw, rotating head and telescoping boom allow the operator to make continuous, clean cuts from a single machine position.

By eliminating the need for chainsaws, bucket trucks or expensive custom machines, the Trim Ex 26S attachment can reduce the often manual labor of tree trimming to one-tenth of its cost. The low maintenance of the attachment is another cost saving factor, as it does not have loose chains or require any oil for lubrication. In addition, no operator components are located near the actual trimming device and the assembly allows the operator to perform trimming from a safe distance inside the cab.

The smaller saw attachment, the Trim Ex 18C, can fit skid steer loaders with a working capacity of 1,300 pounds. Compact, the Trim Ex 18C occupies no more than four inches at the front of an equipment trailer, and the boom can be upright, offset against the side of the machine, or folded for transport. The tree trimmer requires an assist flow of 10 gallons per minute and has a front reach of 10 feet and a working height of 18 feet. Fecon also partnered with the founder of TREEfrogg to develop and design a chainsaw attachment, the Trim Ex 26D, which provides additional safety when trimming trees around power lines. It is also lighter than the 26S.

For more than 30 years, Fecon has produced more than 25,000 capping machine heads with a presence on every continent. The acquisition of TREEfrogg Chainsaw Accessories complements Fecon’s existing line of mulching accessories and expands Fecon’s reputation in the forest mulching and vegetation management industry.
