Expansion of Forest Products LLC shaft mill facility – The Randolph Leader
by artyscount ·
Dickert’s Forest Products LLC is expanding its pole mill facility on Highway 22 between Roanoke and Wadley. The expansion process began in late October, and the expected completion date is spring 2024.
This will be the second phase in a larger comprehensive plan for their business. The investment capital will be approximately $800,000. This new expansion will create five full-time jobs at $20 per hour. This will put Dickert’s capital investment at about $2 million in the past two years and about 13 full-time jobs.
The Randolph County Economic Development Authority had tremendous support from multiple agencies to put this together to help expand Dickert’s Forest Products LLC. This list includes the following agencies: Randolph County Clerks and County Commissioners, Alabama Energy, Department of Commerce, Rural Alabama, and the Alabama Forestry Commission This was a complete team effort in which everyone had important roles.
“This has been a great project as we have helped a local business expand and grow in Dickert’s Forest Products, LLC,” said Adam Sly, Chairman of the RCEDA Board of Directors. “This has been a fantastic display of teamwork from top to bottom by so many agencies and people. They have really helped put this together with our team at RCEDA where this project is being led by Executive Director Chris Dunlap. I’m really excited about the potential for Deckert Forest Products in the future to achieve More growth as we work with them and the precedent our County Commissioners set in helping businesses thrive in Randolph County.
State Representatives Randy Price and Bob Fincher were very helpful with guidance and support as well during the process. Dunlap, RCEDA’s executive director, was effusive in his praise when speaking of county commissioners as he emphasized the huge role county clerks and county commissioners played in helping pass a tax abatement to aid in this expansion.
“The Randolph County Commission is grateful for the opportunity to help facilitate the expansion of Dickert’s Forest Products LLC in the Dickert/Wadley community,” the commission said in a statement. “It gives me great pleasure to see Randolph County’s industrial horizon expanding for investors, new business opportunities, and for the county as a whole. We take this opportunity to thank Dickert’s Forest Products LLC for choosing Randolph County as its home and for future expansion.”
Rick Oates, Alabama state forester, was also involved in the expansion.
“The Alabama Forestry Commission is very pleased with Deckert Forest Products’ plans to expand its facility in Wadley,” Oates said. “This expansion will provide much-needed, excellent-paying forestry industry jobs to the East Central Alabama region, with increased demand for timber from many landowners. It has been a pleasure to work closely with Dickert Forest Products as expansion plans are developed. We look forward to Deckert’s continued growth in the forest products sector.
