Bike and vehicle accident, e-bike theft among KB Police’s recent activities |  Biscayne key

Below is a summary of the incidents and actions taken by the Key Biscayne Police Department from March 18-24.

March 18, 2024

The complainant in the 100 block of Reeve Lane called police about an unknown man taking pictures of cars in the driveway. In addition, the man was seen trying to open the gate. An employee approached the man, then fled the area. Officers circulated the area and the results were negative.

Village staff in the 80 block of West McIntyre Street found a credit card on the grounds of Village Hall. The credit card is placed as evidence for safekeeping.

Units were dispatched to the 20 block of Cape Florida Road regarding a minor traffic accident. The concerned authorities were contacted and investigations into the traffic accident were completed.

The complainant in the 500 block of Glenridge Road called police with their son. They advised that Jr.’s Super 73 had been taken from their garage. The son stated that they last saw the e-bike two weeks ago. Detectives have been notified and will conduct investigations.

KBPD officers in the 50 block of Harbor Drive conducted a traffic stop for a red light violation. Officers contacted the driver and issued a citation.

Police conducted a traffic stop in the 5000 block of Crandon Boulevard for speeding. Officers contacted the driver and issued a citation.


March 19, 2024

Officers in the 100 block of Ocean Lane Drive conducted a traffic stop for a moving violation. Officers contacted the driver and requested a driver’s license. The driver stated that his license was suspended. A records check revealed 5 previous suspensions and a garnishment order. The driver was arrested, citations issued and marked into evidence.

KBPD officers in the 600 block of Ocean Drive were provided with a copy of the evacuation order that would be executed later. The matter was documented in the police report.

Units responded to a business alarm in the 600 block of Crandon Street. Officers contacted an employee, who reported it was accidental. Everything seemed safe.

Police officers in the 200 block of Galen Drive completed a report on a missing Mexican visa.

Officers responded to the 600 block of Hampton Lane for reports of a loose dog. The police were able to recover the dog and reunite it with its owner.

The complainant in the 400 block of Crandon Boulevard called police about the American work permit that was found. The mandate was placed in evidence.

KBPD units in the 700 block of Crandon Boulevard documented a civil incident involving a child custody dispute.


March 20, 2024

A wallet was found in the 200 block of East Enid Drive. The police were able to contact the owner and reunite him with his property.

While on patrol, officers in the 300 block of Grapetree Drive observed a vehicle left running unattended. Officers issued a parking citation to the owner.

Officers were contacted from Harbor Drive & Fernwood Road regarding keys found in the road. Officers placed the keys in evidence for safekeeping.

The complainant in the 400 block of Crandon Boulevard called police about a missing or stolen lightning panel from the Ritz-Carlton. The complainant was not sure whether it had been lost or taken. Officers documented the incident in a report.

The complainant in the 80 block of West McIntyre Street called police about a wallet found. Officers placed the wallet into evidence.

KBPD officers were contacted regarding a Key Biscayne resident who was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital on March 16. The hospital was informed that the man had died. Officers conducted a death investigation and contacted Miami-Dade Police for homicide.

Police were contacted about a Kindle that was found next to the playground on the Village Green, located at 400 Crandon Boulevard. Your Kindle is positioned as a safekeeping directory.

Units responded to the Ritz-Carlton, located at 455 Grand Bay Drive, regarding a 4-year-old child in the lobby. Officers were able to reunite the child with the father and grandparents.


March 21, 2024

While on patrol, officers in the 400 block of Glenridge Road completed a notice of opportunity to commit a crime for leaving a storage locker in the garage open.

KBPD officers conducted a traffic stop at Glenridge Road & West Enid Drive for a moving violation. The driver was contacted and a report was filed regarding the incident.

Police conducted a traffic stop on the 100 block of East Enid Drive due to a handicapped sign. The driver was contacted and a report was filed regarding the incident.

Units responded to a residential alarm in the 200 block of Cape Florida Road. Upon arrival, officers found an open door. The property was checked and everything appeared to be safe. Officers spoke with the resident to secure the home.

Police officers conducted a traffic stop on Crandon Boulevard & Harbor Drive for a handicapped sign. The driver was contacted and a records check was completed. The check revealed a suspended license without his knowledge. Two citations were issued.


March 22, 2024

Officers responded to the 200 block of Crandon Boulevard for a loud music complaint. Officers contacted the homeowner and issued a written warning.

KBPD units responded to suspicious activity coming from Beach Park, located around the 600 block of Ocean Drive. Officers checked the park and encountered a man. After a records check was conducted, the male was issued a trespassing warning.

Police officers were dispatched to the 70 block of Crandon Boulevard regarding a dispute a customer was having. Officers learned the problem was due to gas the customer had paid for. Officers documented the incident in a report.

Units were dispatched to Crandon Boulevard & Harbor Drive regarding a minor traffic accident. The concerned authorities were contacted and investigations into the traffic accident were completed.


March 23, 2024

KBPD officers responded to the open door at 1 Crandon Street. Officers checked the business, and everything appeared to be safe. The key holder was at the scene and secured the door.

Police responded to a residential alarm in the 700 block of Curtiswood Drive. Officers contacted the key holder. The area was searched and there were no signs of criminal activity.

The complainant in the 300 block of Crandon Boulevard called police about the theft of his wallet. The complainant reported that he left his wallet in his work truck while he was working. When he returned, the wallet was gone. A status card has been issued.

While on patrol, officers on East Enid Drive & Crandon Boulevard conducted a traffic stop. Officers contacted the driver and issued several citations.

Units stopped a golf cart in the 400 block of Grand Bay Drive. Officers contacted the driver and issued a civil citation.

While on patrol, officers at Crandon Boulevard & W. Mashta Drive stopped a male juvenile driving a golf cart. A civil report was filed, and parents were contacted to take action at the scene.


March 24, 2024

Officers responded to Crandon Boulevard & West Enid Drive regarding an accident between a bicyclist and a vehicle. The cyclist was treated at the scene. The security services began investigating the accident and issued a report to the car driver.
