The children died at a local hospital a short time later.
During the preliminary hearing, Bullitt County Coroner Richard Behl explained that Ms. Lucas claimed she was manipulated into carrying out the killings “through Facebook, over the Internet, or over WiFi.”

Shortly after the incident, Ms Lucas was seen leaving her home and collapsing in a neighbour’s driveway, saying her “kids are dying”. Police later found the boys lying on the bed, bleeding next to a gun as they collapsed in the front yard. According to the criminal complaint, four shots were fired within just 30 seconds.

The day after her arrest, a judge set her bail at $2 million for the two murder charges. She was also previously convicted of drug possession and spent a month in prison.
According to family members who vacated her rental home, there was dirt everywhere, there was an eviction notice on the counter, and the utilities were turned off.
One of the boy’s stepmothers said the family had contacted child protective services on several occasions to report concerns about Ms Lucas’s upbringing.
“No one could manipulate you into doing such a horrific thing. No one could manipulate you into doing that. We loved them very much. A lot of other people really loved them and could have been there to help them, but she wouldn’t allow that. It was Very selfish, and now they’re gone.”
