RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. – Tragedy struck Wednesday night when a fatal car crash occurred on Interstate 231 North (Lebanon Highway) near Old Lebanon Pike, killing one person and sparking a comprehensive investigation by state authorities.

The accident occurred around 8:45 p.m., prompting a quick response from state troopers who rushed to the scene to determine the cause of the collision. The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office helped manage traffic and secure the area as motorists approached the scene of the devastating accident.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP), the collision involved a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by 51-year-old Miguel Medina Isaac of La Vergne. Mr. Ishaq, heading north on the Lebanon Highway, attempted to pass a vehicle in front of him by swerving into the southbound lane. However, in a tragic turn of events, his SUV collided head-on with an oncoming Toyota Corolla.

The impact of the collision was fatal to the driver of the Toyota Corolla, identified as 51-year-old Maria Valadez. The force of the collision caused Mr. Isaac Tahu’s car to overturn, stopping in the southbound lane, while the road had to be closed for an extended period to facilitate a thorough investigation by troopers.

Preliminary findings by the Tennessee Highway Patrol indicate that Mr. Isaacs’ maneuver to pass the vehicle in front of him led to the catastrophic collision, resulting in the loss of Ms. Valadez’s life.

Mrs. Maria Valadez, a beloved member of the community residing in Shelbyville, Tennessee, tragically lost her life in the accident. Mrs. Valadez was described as cherished by all who knew her, and was an active member of St. William Catholic Church in Bedford County.

As the community grapples with the loss of Ms. Valadez, funeral arrangements have not yet been announced, leaving friends and family to mourn her sudden death.

The accident site, located near the VA Medical Center, left a grim reminder of the dangers posed by reckless driving and the importance of being careful on the roads.

As authorities continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident, Maria Valadez’s memory serves as a poignant reminder of the need for vigilance and safety behind the wheel.
