A 9-year-old boy was killed in a traffic accident and his father was injured

A family spokesman said the boy and his father were coming from a street festival on Price and Ray Road when the accident happened.

CHANDLER, Ariz. — Two victims of a car crash in Chandler Saturday morning have been identified as nine-year-old Eli Petersen and his father, Aaron, according to a family spokesman.

The spokesman says Eli and Aaron were coming from a street festival at the intersection of Price and Ray roads when the accident happened.

Chandler Police say two cars collided in the intersection around 10:30 a.m. Saturday. One of those cars was turning left when it crashed. One of the cars then drove onto the sidewalk at the intersection, where it collided with Aaron and Eli.

Eli was seriously injured and taken to hospital where he died. Haroun was also taken to the hospital and treated. A family spokesman says he has been released.

Chandler Police officers responded to the area of ​​Price and Ray roads Saturday morning in regards to a vehicle-pedestrian collision. Police said that three passers-by were involved in the accident.

Two of the pedestrians struck by the car were a 9-year-old boy who died from his injuries and a man who was taken to a trauma center. The third pedestrian was not transported and refused further treatment, police said.

The police did not provide information about the car and did not reveal the identities of the passers-by.
