2023 Northwest Registered Agent Review

Quick Deposit for LLC
Use the DIY option, Northwest’s free account, or hire them to file for you. Either way, all of our Northwest registered agent reviews highlight our full company incorporation service for LLCs, corporations, and nonprofits—with same-business-day filing.
Registered agent
LLCs are required to have a registered agent in the state in which they do business. While most online LLC formation companies primarily focus on business formation as their main product, all of Northwest’s registered agent reviews emphasize that the company is primarily focused on providing registered agent services. They even provide “one-stop agents” for companies that regularly do business across state lines, such as auto transport companies.
Not only does Northwest take care of this requirement, but they also allow you to use one of their local offices as your business address. This is a great benefit because it means Northwest will receive all the important information and government documents and will notify you when you need to take action. Plus, you can keep all your personal information out of public records and never have to worry about it being sorted through junk mail.
Annual trade compliance
For an additional $100, you can hire Northwest to handle your annual compliance filing to ensure your company stays in good standing with local, state, and federal governments. For example, your annual report may need to include the following:
- Any amendment materials if you are making major changes to your work
- Change of registered office or registered agent
- Change in management structure or membership of the LLC
If you forget to file or file late, your LLC may face serious consequences such as fines, reduced status (businesses classified as late or not in good standing), or your business may be dissolved by the state. Note that application deadlines and requirements vary by state, so having Northwest take on this responsibility means you have one less thing to worry about when running your business. You will still be responsible for state filing fees for anything Northwest files on your behalf.
Business Directories®
One of Northwest’s unique registered agent services is its Local Business Directory Service, a group of local business experts located throughout the United States who specialize in LLC filings. These guides can help you answer any questions or issues that may arise during the LLC formation process.
Privacy by default®
Northwest claims to protect users’ privacy by using a Northwest address in any file that requires a physical address. Northwest claims to use minimal personal data from its customers to act as a buffer between the customer and a state agency or public registry.
In addition, Northwest offers mail forwarding and a second phone number. This keeps customers’ physical addresses and personal phone numbers completely private, while allowing mail and calls to be forwarded directly to them.
Operating agreement forms
An operating agreement is a document that outlines the rules, regulations and provisions for your business. Every LLC formation application through Northwest comes with an operating agreement that you can use. While only a few states require LLCs to have these documents—Missouri, Maine, New York, Delaware, and California—it is always good practice to have one.
★ | Our experience: We’ve found Northwest’s wide range of free operating agreement templates to be particularly helpful. They provide customized agreements for single-member LLCs, multi-member LLCs, and manager-managed LLCs, separately. They also provide a drop-down list of state-specific pages to include in the template. This highly customizable template offering is unique to Northwest – most companies charge for these templates. |
