                Police in Meredith are investigating a crash that killed an 18-year-old woman and injured several other people.  Meredith Police were called to the accident between two cars just before 6:30pm on Sunday on a busy section of Daniel Street.  Webster Highway.  Police said a 2009 Pontiac and a 2017 Subaru collided.  Hannah Chinot, 18, of Meredith, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and passenger of the Subaru, both 87 years old, also suffered serious injuries, police said.  “As far as I know, three helicopters have been ordered,” McLaughlin said.  "They did not come to the scene. They went to Concord Hospital in Laconia and Concord Hospital in Concord and transported three of the patients to Boston hospitals."  The 13-year-old passenger is a student at Inter Lakes Middle School, where Chaignot is a recent graduate.  The school district offers counseling resources for students and staff.  “There are a lot of people at the school who know her,” McLaughlin said.  “She's also a member of a small town community, so there are a lot of people affected by this.”  The Daniel Webster Highway was closed for approximately six hours while police investigated.  “We are looking into all factors of the accident, but will not publicly speculate on the cause at this time,” McLaughlin said.  Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact Meredith Police.

“When we responded with the fire department and EMS, we received calls to the police department advising us that it was a very serious accident that could result in death,” said Lt. Phil McLaughlin.

Hannah Chegnot, 18, of Meredith, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said she was a passenger in the Pontiac.
